I am a Green Member of the Finnish Parliament, a member of the Oulu City Council and a Councillor of the Wellbeing Services County of North Ostrobothnia.

I am a 36-year-old first-term Member of the Finnish Parliament from Oulu. I have been a member of the Oulu City Council since 2012. Previously I served as the vice-chair of the Oulu City Board.

In politics, I want to protect our unique nature and save future winters to ensure that Finnish winters remain snow-white for future generations to enjoy. Making sure that everyone has equal opportunities is important to me. I don’t think anyone should have to dream smaller due to different starting points in life.

For the past four years, I have actively worked with topics including transport policies, animal welfare and environmental policies in the Finnish Parliament.

I enjoy living an active life. I spend my free time wandering in the forests and fells, skiing and orienteering. But I also enjoy spending time in the city with my friends going to concerts and art exhibitions.

Actions for people and the environment!

I entered politics to ensure that everyone in Finland has access to education, employment, and well-being. I want to work towards securing the conditions for life on Earth for future generations. Values such as responsibility for the environment, equity and equal opportunities, as well as concern for animals, are important to me.

I have been involved in politics for over ten years. I believe that my experience and expertise are beneficial as we tackle the complex crises facing the environment, economy, and global politics.

My political agenda

Investing in combating climate change and biodiversity loss for the sake of the environment, economy, and security

The green transition will bring new jobs to Northern Finland when we ensure transportation accessibility, invest in research and development, enable clean energy production, and uphold high environmental protection standards.

  • Building a double-track railway between Ylivieska and Oulu.
  • Abandoning fossil fuels and accelerating the production of clean energy, electrifying industry and transportation, and improving energy efficiency.
  • Protection of our valuable nature and improving the state of habitats. Nature-friendly operations should always be economically viable!

Creating sustainable growth and securing funding for our welfare state

Funding the welfare state requires a strong public economy to ensure that everyone, from children to seniors, receives the help they need. We need new jobs, new skills, and more people in the workforce.

  • Increasing investments in research, development and innovations. Allocating more public funding for Universities and increasing student intake everywhere in Finland.
  • Raising the employment rate target to 80%. Increasing incentives to work and reducing child poverty by raising the lowest social benefits. Taking steps towards basic income.
  • Ensuring that all immigration leads to employment.

Combatting inequity and promoting the well-being and resilience of children and young people

The reasons behind the decline in learning outcomes must be identified so that every child and young person has the opportunity to fulfil their potential and their dreams. The mental health crisis must be taken seriously, and we need to both improve services and address the underlying causes of the problem.

  • Ensuring adequate resources for early childhood education and care and basic education. We must not cut education budgets!
  • Improving the rights of minorities.
  • Securing the funding for arts and culture, and increasing investments in everyday physical activity for people of all ages.
